Fun Fact: Veritas Winery was my dream venue for our wedding back in 2009. If you haven’t heard of Veritas, it’s this gorgeous vineyard and winery tucked inside the little town of Afton, Virginia. Just a few short minutes from Charlottesville, but just secluded enough to feel like a quiet destination in the hills and valleys of Central Virginia. This place is a dream. The ballroom is stunning and overflowing with natural light. It has draped ceilings and windows, hardwood floors, beautiful veranda doors leading to the deck and a breathtaking view of the vineyard, just to name a few. It is the complete package.

So, when Shannon and I decided to branch out into the Central Virginia area, I knew just the place! Despite only having seen the venue in pictures, I was already sold. Guys, it did not disappoint. Even the private bridal suite was perfect. So brightly lit, neutrally decorated and overflowing with natural light. In fact, every corner of the wedding spaces is glowing with opportunity for stunning photographs.

The only disappointing part about our whole experience was running out of time! We would have loved to stay longer. Enjoy some wine. Perhaps a few small plates. Take in the view. Alas, it was time to get on the road and head on home. But I’m crossing my fingers for another opportunity to visit. Since we were fortunate enough to be placed on their preferred vendors list, I’m liking the odds 🙂 Or who knows, maybe even a vow renewal in the future. We shall see what the future has in store!

Until then, here are a few of our favorites from the day…

It’s my birthday today! And what better way to celebrate than having received these gorgeous images in my inbox?? This was our first wedding of the Fall 2016 season and I could not have asked for a better beginning. The Half Moone in Norfolk is one of my favorite local venues. The clean lines and all glass rotunda speak to my modern and contemporary loving heart. The views of the water are to die for and the location blends modern, urban and coastal aesthetics so perfectly. Love.

When Paula and I met September of 2015 to begin the planning process, we instantly clicked. It was as though I was helping a close friend plan the wedding of her dreams and it couldn’t have felt less like work. Paula wanted a modern, vintage aesthetic with blush, gold and canary yellow accents. We envisioned lace, pearl and garden details which blended beautifully inside the clear glass rotunda. Which, in my mind, resembles a glass terrarium, so I’m not sure we could have picked a more perfect space!

Their families traveled far and wide to visit for their wedding weekend and the love was so apparent in every aspect of the day. So genuine and so heartwarming. It really was an amazing experience. Paula and Edgar were even able to live stream the ceremony for family members in the Philippines to share in, despite not being able to physically travel.

It was such a special day and I feel so honored to have played a role in its production. Congratulations to our gorgeous bride, Paula (otherwise dearly known as, Monik) & our dapper groom, Edgar. xoxo

You guys, patience is SO huge in this industry. We shot this gorgeous scene back in December of last year and had to keep it super hush hush for MONTHS now. I’m so happy to finally be able to share these stunning images. Which, side note, were featured on Magnolia Rouge recently!

I wanted to design winter inspiration because I felt it doesn’t get enough wedding love. Yes, it’s blistering cold, the trees are bare, and the clouds are a typical shade of menacing gray, but it has it’s own qualities. You get those nice cool tones and your hair for the most part stays intact! (No humidity…) So it’s not so bad…

We chose a cool and neutral color palette and decided to play with a mixture of warm metallics. While planning the details, I was inspired by the Lafayette Sarah Seven gown (which flows like a dream in person, by the way) and I was drawn to the use of organic and natural elements. We used the classic details of the Norfolk Botanical Gardens to tell the story and it turned out magical. The Renaissance court was the perfect backdrop, too. It’s framed with these amazing stone balusters and this lush landscaping. (Even in the winter!) There are these gorgeous fountains scattered throughout, beautiful stone sculptures and don’t even get me started on those steps! Who knew we had such a pretty little piece of Europe right in our own backyard??

We kept the shoot slow paced and watched our bride glide through the garden in her dress, delicately playing in the pond and twirling next to the fountain. It really was a dream come true.

It’s always amazing when a team of talented artists come together to create something so beautiful. It’s even more amazing when it’s done in 30 degree weather! (I’m from Miami, so yes, that’s cold.) We kept it together though and I’m excited to finally share all the fabulous details. I hope we were able to capture the romance well enough. This was definitely the start of something beautiful for me. I see more authentic and intentional styling in the future. I’m definitely in love… xoxo

This year has been so exciting for us! We kicked off our first wedding of 2016 last weekend, participated in two stylized shoots (with one more scheduled for next month) and have been featured on not one, not two but THREE national wedding blogs! It really is a special time for us. Watching this little dream of mine grow into a reality has been such an amazing experience.

So when the opportunity arose last year to be a part of the first ever, Big Fake Wedding of Virginia Beach, I knew it was just another step in the right direction. The Big Fake Wedding is such a fresh and unique take on the traditional bridal show. So many incredible and talented professionals came together to produce the biggest, most fakest wedding ever and it was AMAZING. Our work was even featured on Ruffled blog yesterday!!!

What???

The whole process was so much fun. We were given an inspiration board with a color palette, design elements and textures, and the creative freedom to design until our little hearts could design no more. I was so impressed with how fabulous everything turned out. The space was cohesive, it was well designed and it flowed. Each table design complimented the next, while staying true to the individual designer’s vision. I mean, how genius is that???

I’m so proud to see our work gracing the Ruffled pages today. It really is a great feeling =)

Here are a few of my favorite shots from the event, from the always fabulous, Shannon Moffit Photography! xoxo

So I have basically had the biggest crush on the 100 Layer Cake blog for like EVER now. I have pretty much stalked those perfectly curated pages for years, hoping that one day I might be fortunate enough to be amongst the beautiful people. You guys. It finally happened. I was featured on the 100 Layer Cake blog today, and I’m happy to say, it was everything I thought it would be!!!

I am SO proud of this shoot! The months of planning and hours of obsessing over every single detail were so incredibly worth it. This was by far my most cohesive and complete theme to date. From the chairs, to the prisms, to the calligraphy details, it flowed so effortlessly. It all just made sense.

I spent an unreasonable amount of time considering designing an industrial themed shoot. During one of my many well intentioned visits to Target, I fell in love with the rose gold and grey marble accents in the home decor aisle, and I had a eureka moment. As I daydreamed through the aisles, I pieced together the green, copper and grey color palette. When I got home, I dusted off the copper prisms that had been collecting dust in my closet for a year and decided to design around them. I spent months, you guys, months, sourcing every single detail and piecing everything together. It turned out so much better than I could have imagined, and I have a team of amazing and talented visionaries to thank for it! The flowers, the venue, and oh my gosh, the pictures. Just perfection.

These styled shoots are no joke! They’re just as intense as planning a wedding (and almost as expensive -__________-).  Although the process is long, and at times tedious, in the end it’s all worth it. I have these gorgeous images to fawn over for years to come and I came out stronger and wiser. For instance, I probably won’t ever forget the proper placement of flatware again!!! *face meet palm* Oh well… What are you gonna do, right?

I do hope you’re able to look past that painful faux pas long enough to enjoy the images anyway. I know right about now, I’m sitting pretty on cloud 9 and nothing, not even the spoons being on the wrong side of the plate, can bring me down! xoxo
